I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a special interest in working with eating disorders, body image issues, anxiety, depression and acculturation issues. I provide individual therapy with teens and adults, couples therapy and family therapy. I am bicultural and bilingual and provide therapy in Spanish.
I am passionate about working collaboratively with clients in finding an individualized approach and working at a pace that I am able to meet clients wherever they are at in their journey. My belief is that we are all on a path to reach our full potential and I want to walk alongside clients in this journey.
Eating Disorders can be pervasive and all-consuming disorders that can impact individuals' relationship with food, with their bodies and with so many other meaningful parts of life. Eating disorder can range from Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Orthorexia and additionally other subtypes of eating disorders.
Depression and anxiety are some of the most common mood disorders that can lead individuals to experience a variety of debilitating issues. Many report feelings of sadness and worry, difficulty sleeping, eating or concentrating and feelings of worthlessness.
Whether individuals are born in the US or they are born in another country many experience interpersonal and family issues related to adjusting to and maneuvering through the dominant culture. Often times due to generational differences, identifying with more than one culture or ethnicity.
Family and couples issues can arise from a variety of stressors including communication styles, generational differences, parenting styles, family members dealing with mental health disorders, attachment styles, trauma and infidelity. Family therapy can be a helpful addition to eating disorder treatment.
